WORLD CLASS PACKAGING MACHINERY FOR THE FOOD, CHEMICAL AND PETROLEUM INDUSTRIES

CONTAINERS:

The DN1-25-ID and DN1-25-RD fillers are capable of filling containers from 1 to 25 liters (quart to 6 gal.) They are normally used for filling containers from 2 to 25 liters (1/2 -6 gal.) for most of their fills. The DN1-10 fillerS are recommended if all fills were to be in the 1/2 to 10 liter (pint-2.5 gal.) range. The sub-surface model DN1-25-ID/S will fill containers from 4 to 25 liters (1 to 6 gal.).

PRODUCTS

The DN1-25-ID and DN1-25-RD models can fill non-foaming liquid and semi-liquid products with viscosities up to 500,000 cps if the product will level off in the container when poured.

Sub-surface model DN1-25-ID/S is capable of filling foaming liquids or non-foaming liquids.

Contact parts are available in brass & steel (standard), 316 Stainless Steel, Sanitary (3A) Stainless Steel, and Titanium to meet the needs of most filling situations.

OPERATION

The operator places an empty container on the filling platform with the opening below the nozzle and presses the operating button. On the DN1-25-ID and DN1-25-RD the nozzle descends 50 cm (2") and opens. Filling begins in Fast-Fill mode. When the Slow-Flow Weight is reached, the product flow is reduced until the shut-off weight is reached and the nozzle closes and rises. The operator places the next container and begins the next fill.

The Sub-Surface filler, DN1-25-ID/S, operation includes a descending nozzle which descends to the bottom of the container, the tip opens and fill begins in Fast-Fill mode. The nozzle rises slowly during the fill cycle. When the Slow-Flow weight is reached, the flow rate is slowed until the shut-off weight is reached. When the shut-off weight is reached, the nozzle closes and the nozzle rises from the container.

If the DN1-25-ID or DN1-25-ID/S model us used and the container is 4 liters or larger, the operator will usually close the filled container while the next container fills. If the container has a screw cap, he will use an electric or pneumatic cap tightener; if the container is a plastic or metal pail, he will use a CLS-25 pail closer.

If the DN1-25-RD model is used, the operator will discharge the container and it will be closed down line from the filler.

WEIGHING DEVICE/ACCURACY:

The machine uses an electronic load cell with digital indicator. The load cell is incremented to 0.02 kg or 0.05 lbs. Fast-Fill/Slow-Fill is included on the machine. Fill accuracy is maintained at +/-1 increment of target weight. (To +/- 0.1%)

The standard model uses a preset tare. The operator will place an empty container on the filling platform before filling and press the tare button. This will be maintained as the tare for all the fill, or until the operator tares another empty container. Automatic Tare for each container is optional.

INSTALLATION:

The machine is shipped assembled. It must be placed in its operating position and connected to the electric service, compressed air source, and product supply. The machine includes its own filter, regulator and lubricator for the pneumatic system.

SUPPLY OF PRODUCT:

Product may be supplied to the machine from a gravity source (elevated tank) or from a pump. The maximum pressure acceptable on the product line is 3 bar (40 p.s.i.). If a pump is used, it should be a non-surging type and have the ability to limit the pressure at the machine connection.

CHANGE OF CONTAINER:

When changing containers, the weight settings must be changed and the height of the nozzle must be changed. The weight settings are entered on the keypad. On the DN1-25-ID and DN1-25-RD models the nozzle height is adjusted by a rack and gear system.

CHANGE OF PRODUCT:

To change the product, the product source is disconnected and the contact parts drained. The contact parts are then flushed with a solvent.

The machine may be equipped with removable product contact parts to permit all the contact parts to be quickly removed and replaced by a second contact parts unit to allow them to be cleaned at a remote cleaning station.

See Options: CIP nozzle, Sanitary Contact Parts.

MAINTENANCE:

The machine has a heavy duty welded steel frame. The standard paint is a stainless steel pigment polyurethane coating which is approved by the U.S.D.A. for use in food plants. The construction is open so that it can be easily cleaned. Key parts are stainless steel. Most system components are in protective enclosures.

The pneumatic and electrical systems have visual and tactile indicators for easy "trouble shooting." An illustrated installation/ operation / maintenance manual is included.

The regular maintenance includes lubrication of moving parts, emptying the pneumatic filter regularly, filling the pneumatic lubricator, and regularly cleaning the machine.

SAFETY:

The operator has an emergency stop botton to terminate the fill if he sees a problem. There are no large moving parts.

NOISE CONTROL:

The 'A' level is less than 30 db at 1 meter. Cylinders exhaust through mufflers inside the control box.

UTILITIES REQUIRED:

Electric: The scale must be conneted to a clean electrical source with 110-120 v, 50-60 hz, 1 phase service. The solenoids require the same electrical service.
Pneumatic: DN1-25-ID and DN1-25-RD fillers require approximately 30 liters/min. at 6 bar ( 1 cu. ft/min at 80 p.s.i.). The DN1-DR-ID/S filler requires approximately 75 liters/min. at 6 bar ( 2.5 cu. ft/min at 80 p.s.i.)

PERSONNEL REQUIRED:

One worker is required to operate the machine. On the DN1-25-ID and DN1-25-ID/S, the worker will normally operate the filler, and close the containers.

OPTIONS:

Splash Reduction Nozzle (DN1-25-ID, DN1-25-RD): This nozzle is used when filling open top pails with low viscosity and splash greatly. It exits the product through approximately 100 small holes rather than one large stream.

CIP Nozzle (DN1-25-ID, DN1-25-RD): This nozzle is similar to the standard "No-Drip" nozzle, except the end has a sanitary "Tri-Clamp" flare to permit quick attachment of a hose with a "Tri-Clamp" end. With the connection of a hose to the machine's entry, it permits flushing in both directions. Containers must have a minimum opening size of 75 mm (3") diameter.

Sanitary (3A) Contact Parts: The contact parts are assembled with 3A sanitary parts which are connected with "Tri-Clamp" connectors. They substitute butterfly valves for ball valves and ther interiors are polished. This is used in many food applications and applications where cleaning must be complete and easy.

Fume Cover: This is a fixture on the nozzle which would be connected to the plant exhaust system to remove fumes from around the nozzle area.

Operator Splash Guard: This polycarbonate guard is mounted on the filling head and places a shield between the nozzle and the operator's working position when the machine is filling.

Additional sets of product contact parts: The parts in contact with the product are mounted to the machine with a single bolt and the pneumatic connectors are quick-disconnect. If products require complete segregation, additional sets of contact parts can be used. Also, one set of contact parts may be removed and cleaned while the other is used if there are frequent changes of products. Cleanliness Options: This includes such adaptations as stainless steel frame, special shields, and other devices to ease cleaning.

Explosion Proof Operation: The machine may be equipped with electrical components suited to Class I,II; Div. I,II; Group C,D for operation in hazardous areas. The system utilizes Explosion Proof Enclosures and does not require a purge system.

Motorized Discharge Conveyor: The discharge conveyors are not motorized in the standard machine. They may be motorized if required.

Special Adaptations: The machines my be modified to meet specific user requirements.
