CONTAINERS:
PRODUCTS
These KN models can fill non-foaming liquid and semi-liquid products with viscosities
up to 500,000 cps if the product will level off in the container when
poured.
OPERATION
The operator places an empty container on the first filling platform
with the opening below the nozzle and presses the operating button.
Then he places an empty container on the second filling platform
with the opening below the nozzle and presses the operating button.
Each nozzle opens and begins fill. When the shut-off weight is reached
on either nozzle, the nozzle closes. The operator pushes the
filled container to the discharge conveyor, places the next empty
container and begins the next fill.
On the KN2-25-RD filler, the containers discharge away from the operator. Normally, the
machine is purchased with the optional motorized discharge conveyor. After the
container is filled, it leaves the machine and is put into a single
lane for exit to capping, labeling, etc.
On the KN2-25-SD filler, the containers exit to the right or left.
If the container is an open top pail or can with a friction lid,
the operator will place the lids
on the filled containers before pushing them to the discharge
conveyor and a CLA-25 closer is placed
at the discharge of the filler to close the
tops.
The machine can be constructed for left discharge if required.
WEIGHING DEVICE/ACCURACY:
The machine uses a mechanical weight tripping device which will
provide an accuracy of +/-0.5% of target weight.
INSTALLATION:
The machine is shipped assembled. It must be placed in its operating position
and connected to the compressed air source, and product
supply. The machine includes its own pneumatic filter, regulator and lubricator.
SUPPLY OF PRODUCT:
Product may be supplied to the machine from a gravity source (elevated tank) or
from a pump. The maximum pressure acceptable on the product line is 3 bar
(40 p.s.i.). If a pump is used, it should be a non-surging type and
have the ability to limit the pressure and surges at the machine
product connections.
CHANGE OF CONTAINER:
When changing containers, the weight settings must be changed and the
height of the nozzle must be changed. The nozzle height is
adjusted by a rack and gear system.
If the size of the container opening is different, the nozzles may be
quickly changed to provide the nozzle with the best flow for the
container.
CHANGE OF PRODUCT:
To change the product, the product source is disconnected and the contact parts
drained. The contact parts are then flushed with a solvent.
The machine may be equipped with removable product contact parts to permit
all the contact parts to be quickly removed and replaced by a second
contact parts unit to allow them to be cleaned at a remote cleaning
station.
See Options: CIP nozzle, Sanitary Contact Parts.
MAINTENANCE:
The machine has a heavy duty welded steel frame. The standard paint
is a stainless steel pigment polyurethane coating which is approved
by the U.S.D.A. for use in food plants. The construction is open so
that it can be easily cleaned. Key parts are stainless steel. Most
system components are in protective enclosures.
The pneumatic and electrical systems have visual and tactile indicators
for easy "trouble shooting." An illustrated installation/ operation /
maintenance manual is included.
The regular maintenance includes lubrication of moving parts, emptying
the pneumatic filter regularly, filling the pneumatic lubricator, and
regularly cleaning the machine.
SAFETY:
The operator has an emergency stop botton to terminate the fill if
he sees a problem. There are no large moving parts. The machine is Explosion
Proof in standard design.
NOISE CONTROL:
The 'A' level is less than 30 db at 1 meter. Cylinders exhaust
through mufflers inside the control box.
UTILITIES REQUIRED:
Electric: None. The fractional horsepower motor for the optional
motorized discharge conveyor requires less than 5 amps at start.
Pneumatic: 30 liters/min. at 6 bar (1 cu. ft/min at 80 p.s.i.).
PERSONNEL REQUIRED:
One worker is required to operate the machine. If the containers
are friction top cans, lug cover pails or plastic pails, the
operator will normally place the lids before discharging.
OPERATING SPACE:
KN2-25-SD:Approximately 125 x 115 cm (4' x 3.5').
KN2-25-RD:Approximately 130 cm x 140 cm (4' x 4.5')
SHIPPING MEASUREMENTS:

Filling speed estimates are based on the filling of water into containers with
7 cm (3 in.) openings from a tank 3 m (10 ft.) above the filling platform.
Product viscosity, use of pumps to supply product at higher pressure, and other
product and installation characteristics will affect the actual production rate.
The production estimates are considered achievable in plant operation on a regular basis.
